Dear Parents;
Please allow me to introduce myself as the school social worker for the Garden City Elementary Schools.
What is a school social worker?
A school social worker is a member of the support staff who provides a variety of services including counseling, crisis intervention, and in-class presentations on a variety of topics. The school social worker also provides group/individual counseling for children on a variety of subjects including socialization, anxiety, bereavement, divorce, academic difficulties, etc.
In addition the school social worker is also available for consultation with families to provide information and referral services for ongoing mental health concerns or outside support services.
If you are interested in contacting me about any concerns regarding a student, I can be reached at Stewart School on even cycle days (516) 478 1400 and Stratford School on odd cycle days (516) 478 1500. You can also reach me via email at vincentm@gcufsd.net. Contacts made with me are treated confidentially.
I look forward to working with you and your family throughout the year.
Sincerely;
Michele (Degati) Vincent
